Luke 6:27-36
32 “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners love those who love them. 33 And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even sinners do that.
love for enemies..
i probably should have blogged about this yesterday, considering how frustrated i was with certain people's behaviors (or shall i say "the lack of").. but i was still feeling a little too impatient too even repent about my anger and frustration.
not so much loving the enemies,, but i wanna touch on loving those who make it hard to love them. this is another factor that adds to the list of "what differentiates christians from nonchristians." one of our main calling is that we love those who we don't get along with. to practice this, pray for patience. it's simply human nature that we love those who love us and hate those who hate us. but scripture tells us otherwise-- it tells us to pray for those who mistreat us and bless those who curse us. this is, by far, the hardest command of them all.
how does God just expect us to be okay with these mistreatings? well verse 36 commands us to "be merciful.. just as Your Father is merciful." love them because they too are God's children. love them because they too are your equals (as sinners). love them because God loves them. and no matter how bad the flaws may be in your enemies, in the end, they're still God's children.
let's change our lifestyles, go against the social norm, and love our enemies.
