revelation 5:1-4

1 Then I saw in the right hand of him who sat on the throne a scroll with writing on both sides and sealed with seven seals. 2 And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming in a loud voice, “Who is worthy to break the seals and open the scroll?” 3 But no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth could open the scroll or even look inside it. 4 I wept and wept because no one was found who was worthy to open the scroll or look inside.

i'm starting to realize that no matter how exciting the stories in revelation may be, they're pure literature. everything is symbolic and everything has a meaning behind it. so let's take it piece by piece. tonight, i'm gonna focus on the beginning.

the part that struck me the most as i was reading this was verse 4. John wept because no one was worthy enough to open the scroll- this shows how genuine his heart was and how tragic he found that because of the fall of man, no one was could even look in the scroll. when the challenge was placed upon to break the seals and open the scroll, the response is a dead silence. wasn't this a challenge for us christianS? in addition,, He was also calling for everyone else in this world to respond and for them to acknowledge that He is King.

we aren't worthy of any of it- His love, the cross, His mercy.. but yet, He still offers it to us anyway. let's strive to become confident enough with God that we, too, may be able to respond to HIm when He gives us these challenges.
