isaiah 37:14-20

20 Now, LORD our God, deliver us from his hand, so that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that you, LORD, are the only God."

Hezekiah's Prayer -- Hezekiah is another biblical character who is portrayed to being dependent on God at his lowest. he was the king of Judah and was reigning during a war with Assyria. in the previous chapter, the king of Assyria has captured Hezekiah's strongest cities, which places him in a state of desperation for God. the amazing thing is that he still remains to be desperate for God, no matter what's going on. he has not only his life and his royalty in danger, but also his people and his soldiers who are all kept under captive.

Assyria's king is a good representation of the sinful minds that we have. he continues to doubt God's powers and at one point, says "15 Do not let Hezekiah persuade you to trust in the LORD when he says, ‘The LORD will surely deliver us; this city will not be given into the hand of the king of Assyria.’".. from the previous chapter.

but this brings us to chapter 37, portraying Hezekiah's faithful prayer. as i was reading this, i immediately thought of the situation with cornerstone. let's look at Hezekiah's example and follow it-- continue to look up to God for help,, when times come when all feels so hopeless and purposeless, let's all be desperate for God.
