revelation 4

9 Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, 10 the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say:11 “You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.”

this chapter really made me reflect about the bigger picture.. my purpose here on earth. it's so weird to think that my time consumed stressing over grades, job, relationships, or my obsession over selfish materialistic desires and more are not going to matter in heaven. revelation itself has been such a big eye opener. in a sense, it's been encouraging me to become a more faithful Christian as i read along.

here, the apostle portrays the vision he has of the throne in heaven. and despite everything that he describes, the last part is what strikes me the most-- the persistence of praise and worship. when they lay their crowns before the throne, they give it their all, undivided attention to praising God.

what i want to take away from this?.. is that even though here on earth, we're still prone to sin and draw our attentions to distractions around us, we still have that ability and the choice to surrender ourselves to Him. Scripture, prayer and serving God and the church are the closest we may have to prepare. so even with all distractions aside, let's keep persevering!
