Revelation 1:1-8
3 Blessed is the one who reads aloud the words of this prophecy, and blessed are those who hear it and take to heart what is written in it, because the time is near.
this is my first time studying revelation. and for some reason, i have mixed feelings of being nervous and excited to see what i can gain from studying this book.
i believe it was D.A Carson who told us that genuine christians should not be taken by surprise once Jesus comes back to earth. through this, i feel like God was telling me to really step it up in feeding myself His word everyday. the bible is our only preparation for eternal life in heaven. and i don't wanna waste another day here. maybe i'm still at a spiritual high and maybe it won't last a while. but i feel like God really spoke to me to really try and persevere. at least i heard it, and now i know.
the greeetings and the introduction to revelation speaks of Jesus' greatness and places emphasis on God as our Almighty-- Ruler of the kings (v. 5), we're His kingdom and are made to serve HIm and Him only (v. 6), Alpha and Omega (v. 8).
i also love verse 7 - every eye will see Him, even those who pierced Him - the way i interpret it, no matter how much i've sinned and turned against my Father, when the time comes, His presence will be the most beautiful sight.
Father-- i pray that You would open my eyes and help prepare me. Amen.
