psalm 143: 7-10
7. answer me quickly o lord, my spirit fails. do not hide your face from me or i will be like those who go down to the pit. 8. let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for i have put my trust in you. show me the way i should go, for you i lift up my soul. 9. rescue me from my enemies, o lord, for i hide myself in you. 10. teach me to do your will, for you are my God, may your good spirit lead me on level ground.
i sense urgency in this passage - david is no different from you and me. he desires to seek God and to hear from Him as he prays. he confesses that he is human and is capable of falling if God's presence is far. but even as david's spirit is failing, he turns to God for comfort and trust - something that i find really hard to do. we also see him surrendering his life down,, letting God take control, letting go of his ways and choosing HIS ways. at this point, i see no pride in david.
i'm always seeking ways to save my own butt and pride that sometimes, i turn from God... i turn from Him and tell HIm that i can keep my pride and surrender to Him at the same time,, this passage made me look twice at myself - through His word, God is telling me "NO"..
this is surrender.
