BEATITUDE 1

"blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." - Matthew 5:3



so last year, we did a bible study on the eight beatitudes that Jesus gives us on the Sermon on the Mount. probably one of my favorite bible studies that we had last year!

the attitudes that we, as christians, must have. sort of like the ten commandments.. but the beatitudes are taken more account in penetrating the heart and soul of our christian faith.

blessed are the poor in spirit.

the way i interpret it... this is commanding us to depend on God. be humble. devoid pride. it's okay to say that you need help.. you and i are only human. we can only handle so much at a time. when you accomplish something great, don't boast about it. instead, give HIm all the credit. cuz the truth is, we can't do anything without depending on Him.

be the poor in spirit. this is just another way to win the kingdom of heaven.
